Getting Started

Getting started at Thrive is simple.

You do not need to know the perfect class. You do not need to have experience. You do not need to have it all figured out. We’ll help you find the right place for your child to begin.

Start with your child.

Every child is different. Some are ready to jump right in. Some need a little time to warm up. Some already know exactly what they want to try. Others just know they want to make, create, play, or explore. That’s why we start by getting to know your child — their age, interests, personality, experience, and what they’re excited about. From there, we can help you choose a great place to begin.

Three simple steps to get started

1. Tell us a little about your child.

Let us know what they’re interested in, what they’ve tried before, and what kind of experience you’re hoping to find. Not sure what to choose? That’s completely fine. You can start with a class recommendation and we’ll point you in the right direction.

2. Come experience Thrive.

The best way to understand Thrive is to feel it. Your child can meet the teacher, experience the class, create alongside other kids, and see what it feels like to be part of the Thrive community. No pressure. No need to perform. Just a chance to try something new.

3. Choose the right next step.

After your child has had a chance to experience Thrive, we’ll help you decide what comes next. That may be a group class. A band. Art. Private lessons. Or another program that fits better. And if the first class is not the right fit, that’s okay. We’ll help you find one that is.

What should my child try?

There is no one “right” way to start.

Different kids thrive in different environments.

Your child may love a group class if…

They enjoy learning with other kids, making friends, and being part of something together.

Your child may love private lessons if…

They enjoy focused one-on-one attention or want to grow more deeply in a specific instrument.

Your child may love band if…

They want to make music with other kids, share ideas, perform, and feel part of a team.

Your child may love art if…

They enjoy imagining, drawing, building, painting, experimenting, or making things their own.

Your younger child may love MiniKeys if…

They are curious about music and ready for a playful first experience with rhythm, movement, instruments, and creativity.

Questions about getting started.

That’s okay. Many Thrive students start with no previous music or art experience. We do not expect kids to walk in already confident. Confidence is something we help them build. Our teachers create a welcoming environment where kids can ask questions, make mistakes, try again, and grow at their own pace.

They do not have to be outgoing to belong here. Some kids jump in right away. Others need time to watch, get comfortable, and build trust. Both are okay. Our job is to help your child feel known, safe, and included so they can begin taking small steps when they are ready. Sometimes the first big win is simply walking through the door.

What makes Thrive different?

We care about more than the lesson.

Your child may come to Thrive to learn piano, paint, sing, play drums, or join a band. But every class is also an opportunity to build:

Confidence
Trying something new and discovering, “I can do this.”

Creativity
Exploring ideas and making something that feels like their own.

Belonging
Building real relationships and knowing they have a place here.

Courage
Making mistakes, trying again, sharing ideas, and taking healthy risks.

Independence
Making choices, solving problems, and taking ownership of their growth.

Music and art are what we teach. Helping kids grow into confident, creative people is why we do it.

What happens after the trial?

We’ll talk with you about what your child enjoyed, what we noticed, and what might be a great next step. Our goal is not to push you into a class. Our goal is to help you make a confident choice. If your child loved the experience, we’ll help you continue the momentum. If something didn’t feel right, we’ll help you explore another option.

What parents can expect from us

When your family joins Thrive, you can expect us to:

Know your child.

We want to understand who they are, not just what they can do.

Help them belong.

We work intentionally to create a place where kids feel welcomed, included, and valued.

Challenge them to grow.

We encourage kids to try, make mistakes, build skills, and celebrate progress.

Ignite their creativity.

We give kids room to explore ideas, make choices, and create something meaningful.

Partner with you.

We want you to understand both what your child is learning and who they are becoming.

Ready to take the first step?

You do not need to know exactly where your child belongs. That’s what we’re here to help with. Come experience Thrive and find a creative place where your child can feel known, build confidence, and grow.
