Singing should feel joyful, not intimidating.

For some kids, singing comes naturally. For others, using their voice in front of people can feel vulnerable. That is why we create a supportive environment where students can build skills without feeling pressured to be perfect. Kids learn how to use their voice with more confidence, control, and freedom — one step at a time.

What happens in Group Voice?

Students may work on:

  • Healthy vocal technique
  • Breathing
  • Pitch
  • Rhythm
  • Ear training
  • Tone
  • Expression
  • Songs
  • Harmony
  • Musical phrasing
  • Performance skills
  • Creative vocal exercises
  • Singing with others

Our teachers help students build strong vocal habits while keeping the experience encouraging, active, and creative.

What does class feel like?

Warm. Active. Supportive. Creative. Students sing together, listen to one another, try new things, and learn how their individual voice fits into a group. Some moments may feel silly. Some may feel challenging. Some may feel brave. All of them are part of learning.

More than singing skills.

Confidence

Using your voice takes courage. Every time a student sings something new, volunteers to try, or shares their voice with the group, they are practicing confidence. We do not expect kids to feel fearless. We help them discover that they can do something even when they feel a little nervous.

Creativity

A voice is more than a tool for singing the right notes. Students can explore expression, interpretation, harmony, improvisation, and their own musical ideas. We want kids to learn how to use their voice — and also discover what they want to say with it.

Belonging

Singing with other people creates connection. Students learn how to listen, blend, support one another, and contribute to something bigger than their individual part. They begin to understand: “My voice belongs here.”

Courage

Singing can feel personal. That makes it a powerful place to practice healthy risk-taking. Students learn that mistakes are not embarrassing failures. They are part of growing.

Questions about getting started.

No. They come to class to learn. We do not expect students to arrive with polished voices or previous training. Kids start where they are. Our job is to help them develop healthy skills, musical understanding, and confidence over time.

That is very common. A child can love music and still feel nervous about being heard. We do not force kids into big solo moments before they are ready. They can begin by singing with the group, building trust, and taking smaller steps. Over time, those small moments of courage can become something much bigger.

We’ll help determine the best fit based on their experience, confidence, and goals. Students with previous training can continue developing technique while growing in areas like:

  • Harmony
  • Expression
  • Performance
  • Musical independence
  • Collaboration
  • Creative interpretation

Group Voice or private voice lessons?

Both can be valuable.

Group Voice may be a great fit if your child:

  • Loves singing
  • Enjoys learning with other kids
  • Wants to build confidence using their voice
  • Likes the energy of making music together
  • Wants to make friends
  • Is interested in harmony, performance, or eventually joining a band

Private voice may be a better fit if your child:

  • Prefers focused one-on-one coaching
  • Has specific vocal goals
  • Wants a highly individualized pace
  • Needs deeper support with technique or repertoire

Not sure? We can help you find the best starting point.

Where can voice take them?

As students grow, they may choose to:

  • Continue developing their vocal skills
  • Add private voice lessons
  • Join a Thrive band
  • Sing harmony
  • Perform
  • Explore songwriting
  • Create original music
  • Grow into leadership opportunities

We want kids to see their voice as something worth developing and sharing.

Come find your voice.

The easiest way to know if Group Voice feels right is to experience it. Come meet the teacher, sing with other kids, try something new, and see what happens when your child has a safe place to use their voice. No experience needed. No pressure to perform perfectly. Just come ready to sing.
